I can’t count the number of times I’ve asked a question on reddit and the answers I got was of no use at all. I would rather have no answers than have to read through a lot of nonsense from a bunch of wannabe-know-it-alls.

If they don’t know how to use the fediverse and can’t be bothered to reseach how to, I think we’re all better off without.

This is the exactly the unwelcoming approach which would result in an unwelcoming environment

Welcoming users who don’t understand or care for a community is like taking in a stray dog and letting is piss all over your house.

I’m not setting any rules on who is welcome or not (I’m not in any right to do so), I’m just saying how it will go if you insist on getting everyone and their grandmother on board.

What I am saying is that the community should be open for as many people as possible.

Making/keeping something purposefully difficult to use is like saying to someone that you won’t talk to them because they don’t have a PhD. in math.

It’s not very difficult getting startet with the fediverse. You just need to put in a little effort. It’s the lack of that mentality I think we’re better off without.

I’d much rather welcome the normies than people who compare human beings to pissing stray dogs, personally.
