If I’m betting, I’m still betting he sees no real punishment that actually hurts him in any way…buuuuuuut…one big thing here as opposed to his impeachments is that it comes down to a jury and is only about whether he did the things or not. With impeachment, it’s much more a political vote than a true judgement of actions.

It comes from the same place as the deeply held but mutually exclusive beliefs that the government is both totally stupid and incompetent but also so capable and efficient that they are somehow carrying out massive conspiracies on the entire citizenry.
