What’s everybody’s favorite communities here? Soliciting recommendations for fun/weird/niche/cool stuff.
For some reason, this link takes me to my email app on Jerboa.

Can’t see it from beehaw right now, though.
Frankly I like to setup my subscriptions and then set my the main page to be Subscribed and New by default. That way I see all the new stuff. Switching back to Active is useful too. You can do the same thing with the Local and All feed. Especially the All feed can be interesting.
Beyond this the ones I like are:

- https://beehaw.org/c/fediverse@midwest.social
- https://beehaw.org/c/energy@slrpnk.net

Otherwise just go the the communities tab and select Local and read down the list and pick your interests. Lot of the local ones are really good, no need to go wider. I am still looking for a good Python community.
Ah, perhaps it’s because I’m on an app? The Beehaw website has been down for me/unable to log me in since I first joined, so downloaded jeroba and can’t see the list of communities right now. I’ve just been subscribing to cool seeming ones I’ve heard of, looked up, or seen posts from. But thank you!! I appreciate your reply
Yes I see what you mean. Just a guess, maybe the app does not have the ability to show local communities. You can go into the communities view using the tool bar at the bottom. It is the second one from the left (next to the house icon). But on my app the 3-dot menu in the upper right of that view does nothing. The view just shows subscribed. I think maybe you have to go onto the web to see it. Or maybe I am just dense. Keep in mind Jerboa in particular is under development. Maybe they have not added that menu yet.
I think that is it…most of these apps seem to be works in progress. Thanks though!
This is my favourite part, being present for a big shift in social media, and witnessing the birth of the supporting infrastructure.
Absolutely yes. I feel the same way.
