This is one of those games where I’m going to try to avoid seeing anything about it. I really wish I could feel the dread of the unknown as I did with the first one.
Fingers crossed that this is a genuine subnautica 2 and not another BZ.
1 is great with co-op mods, though it’s about as janky as one might expect. Still, it was a lot of fun building bases with friends, and going on submarine adventures.
Will there be VR so we can pee our swimming trunks again?
I could swear I saw a post showing a teaser trailer for subnautica that was fully using gen AI, but I can’t find it anywhere anymore. Am I going crazy or did this really happen?
EDIT: Nevermind, it was ARK!
This is a game I’m really waiting for!
This is a game I’m not going to preorder, but watch for a few months until the bugs are worked out, then when it’s 20% off I’ll play the shit out of it!
I’ll probably wait until 50% off. I have no hurry with that.
I understand why they’re going that way but Subnautica is such a quintessential single player experience. I hope they leave that experience the main focus.
I hope they leave that experience the main focus.
Hmmm, so in the short Devlog on YouTube they ask “what do you wanna see in Subnautica 2?”, and the top comment says
A personal wish of mine is to have proximity chat in multiplayer, with options such as radios to communicate from a distance
So the players want Multiplayer, but they also want the whole game to be the same “intimate” experience as Subnautica 1 – I was really worried about that because a big part of Subnautica 1 I feel like was this absolutely overwhelming loneliness/solitude. I never got this specific feeling in Below Zero.
Seems like players generally have no idea what they want, they just ask for things that sound neat without thinking about if it’ll be good for the experience. not that it’s impossible to have that feeling in a multiplayer game, ever play barotrauma? If you leave the sub alone you suddenly feel so much more vulnerable than if you had gone with even one other person. They could have all sorts of radio interference and reasons to split up.
Unfortunately, looking at below zero, i don’t even think the devs know what sold the first game.
