1010·8 months agoApple adheres to the principle of form over function, instead of the old but still valid form follows function design principle. But TBH I never liked their stuff or their over the top big cheese attitude. So it’s not a disgruntled apple user writing this.

Signal is subject to National Security Letters in the U.S.
Signal received funding from Radio Free Asia owned by the U.S. Agency for Global Media with ties to the CIA.
They seem to have a history of needing quite some time to release the server source code.

1·1 year agoIf you’d like to have a laugh, I very much recommend Pink Fohawk. It’s a shadowrun actual play podcast, with an emphasis on fun.
We should be aware that signal might not be the promised lands. It was created by a CIA affiliate. It’s also suspectible to National Security Letters from the U.S., requiring it to disclose information about its users.
A viable alternative might be France based Olvid. But I haven’t done much research on them.

1·1 year agoThis has never been proven to work. There is no scientific evidence to back up the claims. The inventor of Bionic Reading seems to have no background in Neuroscience whatsoever. There are articles trying to debunk the Bionic Reading claims, but those are not backed up by scientific peer-reviewed studies either.
