I think that used to be the case more than it is now. Linux now uses the same printing system (CUPS) as macOS, and macOS printing has to work or Apple’s customers would be unsatisfied.

It’s an obsolete and relatively obscure word that I think a lot of people don’t know - because if most people did know it, no one would ever have gotten into trouble for using it.

No one mentioned “niggardly” yet? What’s going on?
Yes, I learned English here in Austria and I remember classmates asking the teacher how to say “vorgestern” and “übermorgen” in English.
We didn’t learn the words “ereyesterday” and “overmorrow” that day, only “the day before yesterday” and “the day after tomorrow”. :(
mission accomplished? That has the same effect as making it private, doesn’t it?
This is why US First Amendment standards for freedom of speech need to be adopted everywhere, not with hundreds of “but this kind of speech is harmful to society” exceptions.
Aren’t Austrians just Germans pretty much?
The FPÖ certainly thinks so, yeah. Most of the rest of us do not.
Pizza Hut doesn’t exist in my country, Domino’s does. I’ve eaten at both in other countries and prefer Pizza Hut, but I prefer independent pizza restaurants to either of them.

I’m not sure I do, but one thing I haven’t seen mentioned here yet is consumer psychologists. I once read an argument that they could be improving people’s mental health, instead they are working on manipulating people into buying more.
no, it’s a feature, not a bug, that we can have more than one community for discussing the same topic here; makes it harder to censor
There are hidden cameras that look like power strips.
or ladybird if that is in a usable state by then
I don’t have a very good answer to that either tbh; do we really need to do that so often?

text media → author
The UI platform with the largest install base of all is the web. Nearly all computer users can use your GUI if you develop it for the web, it’s almost the definition of the universal open standard for GUIs.
Browsers can only execute JavaScript or WebAssembly, so you need to write it in JavaScript or in something that compiles to these things, e.g. TypeScript (but there are also ways to compile other languages to JS or WASM).
Do we need a general term? Someone who uploads their videos to a video platform is probably a “video producer”.
Who is “we”? My understanding is LLMs are mostly being trained on a large amount of publicly available texts, including both reddit posts and research papers.
