The rapid Lemmy growth as a whole is certainly bot driven but lemmy.world addressed the bot issue already so the majority of new accounts are most likely organic.

I definitely think that ads will start appearing on the bigger instances especially since the overhead will most likely outpace donations. I could also see a lot of super small instances pop up just for people to host for their friends. I’m thinking about creating an instance just for me and a few friends but I’ll definitely have to deviate from my standard Reddiy username, can’t let that cat out of the bag.
Custom feeds where you could lump content together from various communities on the account level would be awesome.
I mean is there really a great way to keep a problem user banned on Reddit? VPNs, VMs, etc pretty much make it so a dedicated trouble maker can keep coming back unless I’m mistaken
I set up an account on Squabbles but I hope Lemmy/Kbin really take off as I would much rather not deal with another company.
