I got one of those used on me in basic training - a place where you need to vaccinate a few thousand people in about 30 minutes. Each one could do 4 shots at a time, and they had them in multiple configurations so you could get up to 4 in each arm for each “injection” station. We stepped through the line, and you got whatever shots you were missing in your records.

It hurts, like you could imagine a high pressure power washer with a needle-point burst with 4 heads blasting vaccines in your arms. It works, in the machine-like way the military works, and it is highly effective for mass vaccinations. So, I guess it makes it cool, but also it sucks like you’d expect 4-30 vaccines at once would suck.

That was bait. They say something borderline reasonable now, and you listen. Eventually, they say something weird and you let it slide. These people weasel themselves into reasonable people’s lives and ruin them, day after day.

A decent approach, as a social platform, would be to use the Reddit model. The content is stripped and replaced with [deleted] if deleted by the user, and [removed] if removed by moderation (with the appropriate log in the modlog). This should maintain the overall comment chain.

I think the issue may be federating the update to other instances. I’m not sure how it works now, but if it’s treated as an edit, that should work like they currently do.

And then you learn about Fextra’s embedded twitch player that artificially inflates their twitch view count and pushes out smaller content creators who are actually trying to engage with a game’s audience.

We all know this. We are all powerless to change it. Corporations and governments control whether or not it can be changed. Politicians worldwide are being fed by the pollution industry. The poors voting changes nothing until the corporations and politicians decide to do something about it.

Walkable cities? Great idea. Needs politicians to approve zoning restrictions. Don’t drive cars? Great idea. Needs politicians to build public transportation infrastructure. Electric cars? Great idea. Needs corporations to produce them at an affordable cost. Etc etc etc.

There will never be a day when 10 billion people in the world get on the same page to demand the end of anything. We can’t even get a tenth of that many to agree to stop killing each other over border squabbles.

Then go look it up, lazy. That other person has no obligation to teach you a customized course on the Australian referendum to recognize indigenous peoples. Use the internet that you’re reading their post with to look it up yourself if you’re so hungry for detail. I’d be willing to bet you can find scanned copies of each pamphlet if you tried. I’d Google it to find out for sure, but then you’d want me to read them to you.

Every Unity developer is under the same agreement. The changes were not announced to be “moving forward”. It’s a change to existing licenses to use Unity. For everyone. Everywhere.

I don’t know that licensing changes have been retroactive in the past. How do lawyers prevent companies from retroactively changing licensing? My guess would be to sue after the fact, which is probably why these developers are hinting that they’re going to suffer economic harm if Unity follows through with this. This statement may be their lawyers doing the work they’d normally do in this kind of circumstance.

They’ve made $600M. How is that fucking up a golden ticket? They’ve all been getting paid well for years. The people who spent money are the ones who don’t have a finished game. That probably doesn’t matter to the people who’ve paid off a large chunk of their mortgages in the meantime.

Honestly, I didn’t even think to just go to another planet without stopping by my ship first. That’s somehow… worse? I thought it was super weird when I realized I could do it from the outpost without a ship nearby, but hadn’t thought to just fast travel everywhere all the time.

Or, and I know this is a crazy idea, Bethesda could have made a game that has enough content to fill the space (pun intended) they created. Yes. I can run back to my ship through the mined out area I just cleared just to prove a point that the game is as flawless as you’d like to believe. Or, I can offer one fair critique of the game.

I’m looking forward to what modders do with the canvas Bethesda has provided.

I told my buddy the other day that it was Bethesda Menu Simulator 2023, and I wasn’t wrong. I was working on my outpost, so I’d place some stuff, go to star map, select the planet with the material, pick a landing spot, land, get up, mine ore for 5 minutes, fast travel to ship, repeat 2-3 more planets, choose the outpost, land, place some more stuff. Then repeat.

That’s probably what she does with my mail when it arrives to her with the opinion of one of her constituents. Seems fair turnabout.

I’m just now learning about SimpleLogin. Something to look into when I don’t feel like I’ve just exited a 10 hour nightmare after work.

One of my Senators is Marsha Blackburn, whose photo is used in this cal to action. She will tell me that I’m stupid and should support the bill, and then I’ll be on her GD mailing list again (it is very difficult to get removed from that list).

I believe you could use block to prevent other people’s shit from showing up in your feeds that other people see. My account is there, pointing at my mastadon account, but I deleted the app from my phone last December, so it doesn’t really matter to me what happens on that site. But, it seems wild that a person can spam your feed with goatse and you can’t do anything about it.

Couldn’t they prorate the hourly rate to account for the time that your actually assigned to an active delivery? That wouldn’t interfere with multi-apping, as a driver would be “on the clock” for their delivery time. It seems like the companies would be able to figure out how to do the right thing if they wanted to.
