Russians engineers are hardcore, they really go all out on systems validation.

What a case of “the beating will continue until morale improves.”

Did you misspell guaranteed revenue? They know exactly what they were doing.
Absolute waste of tax money and resources, anyone advocating for this policy is an idiot and psychotic control freak that should never be allowed to opine on public policy.
Outdated values are driving this country back into the stone age. The body was designed to be horny as we go through teenage years. It’s nature. Rather than guide kids on the safe path, fools would forbid, outlaw, prohibit until they can’t control them after age of 18.
Here’s how this plays out… Kids are going to masturbate, regardless. They will dive deeper into the Internet into places with no restrictions and be exposed to really messed up stuff. Hey at least the parent can pat themselves on the back, right, they were good partners that did everything right by the book, even paying the kid’s therapist.
“What made you upgrade to the OLED?”
“Because I couldn’t smell it anymore.”
“What?”
Steam engine breaks, you can fix it.
Steam engine with digital circuit breaks, you’re a hacker, a pirate. DRM was a mistake.
It’s gonna be Jan 1, 2028, isn’t it?
Because the websites don’t police content, there are no rules. This requires a far higher exercise of self discipline when engaging with Internet posts, which many forgo with the anonymity of the Internet and lazy thinking. In other words, there is no constraint to “debate” and ultimately, no agreement what people are even talking about.
Extract what you feel is useful, but only under a critical eye.
Unity is dead, but at least one guy made it out like a bandit.
Idiots believe their personal information was safe, with a private company.
How game b breaking are we talking about? Like slider set to 100 instead of 99, or are we talking about memory loop around, nuclear Gandi level of horny?
Isn’t timing of this recording when company was at 50 people? Think they haven’t gotten to full HR services yet, just HR for payroll and admin. Linus and Yvonne probablyb still handled staff issues directly. Not ideal, but not unexpected.
LOL. To put that in perspective, let imagine it’s some $100,000 annual pay worker. This means Facebook just added 365 employees to their ranks, if they ignored this order completely.
They fire and hire people in the thousands, the penalty is a joke of scale.

Being transparent about your business, comes with pros and cons. Right now a female employee shared her end of the story to the web on why she quit, and you’re seeing the reaction to it.
Edit: This amplified the ongoing issue about LTT and their information integrity, which is very likely due to root causes that Linus repeatedly ignored, or worse, believed he was right and everyone was wrong.
Yeah, to the OP in the posted tweet… I did put a lot of thought into it. If a game that’s just $60 can do this, then all new games are measured against it. Go compete. If your business model is outdated, convince your investors to change or be downgraded to B tier game dev.
Don’t come me, the consumer, complaining about your poor ability to hedge business markets. You saw BG3 in early access for 3 years, you knew it was coming.
Even more ironic. Larian started BG3 6 years ago, or when they were still arguably AA studio.
LTT has grown to the point they can not act as equal to any small time team or start up. Linus decision has consequence larger than he can afford by pretending “I’m just another tech youtuber”. With 100+ employee, and far outsized influence in tech, LTT must be professional in their decisions.
I’m old now. People probably forget or don’t know, Digg died overnight because they themselves fucked up their redesign. The backend was broken and the frontend looked like a different site. So people just packed up and left. Reddit hasn’t infrastructure wise screwed up. And now being the behemoth it is, it will never really die out. Because, just as op experienced, that masses don’t really care about any of this. As long as it’s working, they continue to use it blissfully.
From my tiny phone… It’s that Gandalf the grey struggling on hard times? Might need to cut the weed budget.
