Yeah, but mobile gaming is largely a very different animal. I don’t feel that comparing them is helpful at all. They’re very different audiences, and very different games. While I’m sure there’s some overlap they’re very much not interchangeable.

Any major studio releasing a AAA game with the level of microtransactions and blatant money-bait that mobile games regularly get away with would be absolutely annihilated by public outrage.

I don’t entirely agree with that- I enjoyed some of the 343 games. They’re not the same quality as the original trilogy, but I would describe all of them but Halo 5 as ‘good’. Not great or amazing, but good.

I would love to see them license the IP out more, though, just so we could see more variety of games. I like Halo but “he kills all the aliens and doesnt afraid of anything” gets a bit old after the fifth time or so.

The only other Halo games are Halo Wars- which personally I enjoyed a lot- and the Spartan Assault twinstick shooter games that I never played.

There’s so much potential for a Halo game that isn’t just a shooter.

I think a survival horror game based around the Flood would be amazing- something Dead Space-y but Halo. That would be incredibly difficult to make, and it’s never going to happen, but it would be cool.

I love Edith Finch. It’s firmly my favorite among the walking simulator genre.

It’s very much a story first and the only reason it’s a game and not a movie is because the perspective allows you to be a bit more immersed.

If you want an example of a walking simulator done properly badly, give The Suicide Of Rachel Foster a go. It’s got an interesting idea, and it has zero clue what to do with it.

Who is making money from mods?

Having a patreon is reasonably common nowadays, actually locking content behind it is not common.

To further explain, since I’m assuming you’re not a native speaker: the n-word can be two words, one ending in a hard r sound and one ending in an a sound. Hard r n-word is generally considered drastically more offensive. I wouldn’t suggest using either, to be entirely clear, but they’re very much different levels.

Yeah, I also really enjoy immersive sims. Shame that there’s not more of them. I will mention that Dishonored 2 is somewhat hit or miss with people. I think everyone tends to agree that it’s at least decent, but how it holds up to the first game is a pretty divisive topic in my experience.

Arkane’s immersive sims are fantastic. Dishonored 1 and 2 and Prey (2017). Brilliant worldbuilding and interesting stories that you can interact with. I don’t think either is particularly stat heavy or grindy, but I have an extremely high tolerance for that sort of thing so maybe my perspective is skewed.

It was originally basically a shorthand for budget. A list actors, A list director, a list studio = a AAA movie. I think? All of those things cost money, so…

Yeah, that’s always been one of my issues with Sea Of Thieves. I’m just tryna dig up treasure and fight some skeletons, man. I don’t need Chadbeard boarding my ship and spawn camping me and my homies.

It’s been in development hell for like 11 years so people had low expectations, and it ended up being reasonably accurate.

It’s just Black Flag, except notably worse and multiplayer. It was also on the expensive side @ $70, and someone at Ubisoft defended the price increase by calling it “the worlds first AAAA game.” which was just stupid.

As someone that very much does not enjoy Sea Of Thieves I was kinda hoping it would scratch my pirate game itch, but nah I’ll just replay Black Flag lol.

I would love to see the old PS2 third person platformers ported/remastered onto PC. Sly Cooper 1-3(Sly 4 I guess), Jak 1-3(And Jak X I guess), and all the Ratchet and Clank games. You can play them via RPCS3 and PCSX2, but that’s not a substitute for a proper port imo.

I think that it’d be reasonable to do controller-friendly ports.

At least some Paradox games have console ports. Stellaris, for example, is on PS4/Xbox One. It’s a serviceable port, but it plays much better on mnk.
