It took many years for reddit to take off to become a huge player on the internet. Digg, Twitter, and myspace where the big players in 2005 to 2010. Then people started to move to Facebook, Snapchat, and Reddit as they became more popular. It only a matter of time until Mastodon, Lemmy and other federated platforms take over. Especially if the community keeps growing and spreading the word.
Once Reddit restricts it API usage and Stock goes public it will slowly just become another Digg clone.
I believe AD revenue is drying up for all tech sectors and the collapse of Silicone Valley Bank didn’t help either. You can see a lot of technology companies are cutting back on spending. Layoffs are happening in all sectors of technology. My guess is these companies are preparing for the coming recession.
