- enable unlocking from settings
- unlock bootloader
- either patch boot IMG and flash it Or
- flash custom recovery and flash magisk

Installing a new update will unroot your device. I doubt the device of OP still gets updates anyway but I have no clue how old the Samsung Tab devices are.
GrapheneOS has had this feature. Unlocking after a reboot is only possible with PIN. Also the RAM is wiped. This increases security and lowers the risk of attackers gaining access. Be it physically or not.
