Honestly maybe the best part of this is that when they add shit like Coloseum and XD to the service, it will probably bring down the cost of those physical games a little bit. I thought I’d never end up getting them in my collection because they were just too expensive to justify.

Well that’s pretty much how NSO started. It sucked at first with a tiny lineup of NES titles. Now there are tons of games and they’re still adding. I think it makes sense that they would hype up people with additional games added over time. I’m fine with that if I’m still paying $20/ year for NSO. I get enough value out of that as is, and more games at the same price is added value. But I absolutely agree that they should have started with more than 3 games.

Admittedly though, when I first commented on this, I hadn’t seen the new prices on Switch 2 yet. Now, I’m just as pissed as anyone else. I won’t be buying the system at all unless they drop their prices. And if they don’t, then I guess I will just stick to playing elsewhere.

Pikmin 1 and 2 run great on Switch. I also never ran into any issues with Sunshine.

Yeah mine does too. That doesn’t mean we can’t be glad to see some actual official support on these games for the first time in 20 years. Emulation is great, but so are steps in the right direction.

In my opinion, this is awesome. It’s about damn time they added offical Gamecube support to their systems. 3 games at launch is a little weak, but if they support it like the rest of NSO, the library will probably be great within a year or so.

Hold on to that one, it’s pretty hard to get nowadays. I really like how much they tried to accomplish on that. They definitely tried to make it more than a short high-score romp.

If you want to get a little wild and still play on OG hardware, you could play the Gameboy titles on a SNES Super GameBoy or the Gamecube GameBoy Player. I think the Gamecube one is basically a GBA so it would support all the GB titles. But I’m pretty sure the Super GB only supports original GB, not GBC or GBA. Kinda fun to play them on official hardware hooked up to a big screen, although it will probably look not great lol. Otherwise, you really can’t do better for GB titles than a GBA sp. As for the DS ones, any 3ds/2ds should work just fine for any of those titles. Although gen 6 and 7 run like shit on an og 3ds/2ds. Not sure about modding or flash carts as I’ve only used original hardware or occasionally emulation. To answer your question, you can play all of the titles from gen 1-7 between just a GBA and a 3ds. Those are the easiest way to play them on official hardware.

Several Dragon Quest titles are available on Android. I believe DQ 1-3 are unique versions made for mobile. They are also available on Switch. DQ 4-6 were only ever released in NA on the DS and are damn near impossible to find now for a good price. But the mobile ports are based on this version and it’s probably the most accessible way to play those games. At least if you don’t speak Japanese.
