Defederation was meant as a last measure to block instances like gab.ai or truth social. Not to block content the Moderators may not like. At the end it should be the users choice what content they enjoy. Large instances blocking each other betrays the whole idea, the dream that we can all communicate. That is true, yet it’s also misuse of the NSFW button. It’s specifically for depictions that are adult, not for spoken words that are adult.
