It seems useful to me. When you’ve installed a new application you can immediately see which category it was put in. That said, glad it can be turned off for those who don’t like it.

Pick any of the mods from the sidebar, send them a DM. This isn’t a support community btw.
Good to hear. Tried running the update when the news about it came out, but it seemingly wasn’t available yet. Will try later today then.
They run on spite. Just doing something which the other side hates is enough to make them happy.
Does it not display the initial 1 for you? I noticed the post has some weird formatting, I think the lemmy UI thinks it’s a list item or something.

I think it should be marked under the same conditions in which you would credit another artist on whose drawings your work is based on. Is it a close reproduction of an AI-generated piece? You should mark it as AI-assisted. Did you use AI-generated content as general inspiration to create your own unique artwork? No need to mark it in that case.
Freedom of speech is often confused with a right to say what you want on any platform, but it’s not the same. As long as you can host your own website, say whatever you want on it and have the website be accessible to other people, there is freedom of speech on the internet. That’s not the case in all countries, but in many it is. But getting banned on Twitter for writing “cisgender” or getting your post removed on Lemmy doesn’t really touch your free speech whatsoever.
Their settings are adjusted on a firmware bases by pressing different buttons together on the controller.
That’s also the case on newer 8bitdo controllers to be fair. You don’t have to use the software often but when you do, it’s indeed a pain.
Yes, proprietary software on Windows or Android. It gets even more “fun” though, as you need to use different software for different controllers. The “8bitdo Firmware updater” works for controller like the Pro 2, but if for example you have the Ultimate 2 you need the “8Bitdo Ultimate Software 2” instead. That thing will also crash if you have any other 8bitdo device plugged in. So yeah.
Remapping controls, like using the sticks to control the mouse etc.
Should be the ability to freely remap their controls using the Steam Input interface. They’ve always worked on Deck as regular XInput devices.
The 8bitdo Ultimate 2 is pretty close to an XBox controller and it has a gyro. The problem is that while the gyro works great on Switch, it’s severely limited on PC, as it can only emulate the right stick with very few settings. The Steam Input update could potentially fix that, but I haven’t tested it yet.
I have 3 of their controllers. All excellent hardware-wise but a bit shit when it comes to their software. Don’t think you’ll even be able to do this firmware update on Linux. Curious to see how well the Steam Input support works in any case, especially whether it includes gyro.
I don’t think so. They’ve stated that it’s not worth it for them to maintain two separate versions of firefox on iOS, with one only being available in the EU.
Quite a lot of perfectly harmless snakes around, including most pet snakes, and even the non-harmless ones usually won’t try to actively kill humans.
I’ve never had a snake, but I’ve had pet insects before, who I’m pretty sure didn’t have the mental capacity to like me or even realize that I’m caring for them. With those kind of pets, it’s not about having a companion or building an emotional bond them, they’re just interesting animals to observe. It’s a different kind of pet.
Truly horrifying to read about the kind of deviant behaviours some people on Lemmy are into… 🤢 What’s next, holding hands?!
Game developer. Quickly realized the working conditions in the industry were not for me. Maybe one day I’ll go indie and try to release my own game.
Always good to let this kind of drama develop for a couple weeks before passing any judgement. Not to say I fully believe the publisher’s narrative either. But maybe it’s not the time for grandiose proclamations of a boycott yet.
