    The Obama administration declined to try to extradite Assange because they were worried that the case could and would undermine press freedoms in America. The Trump administration started this process because they gave absolutely zero shits about press freedom.

    One would hope Biden would follow the lead of his Democrat predecessor and put a stop to this chicanery.

      The environment has changed now. Democrats were pissed about the 2016 (2015?) leaks and started crying that Assange was a Russian agent

      I’d be pleasantly surprised if Biden relented on this, but surprised nonetheless

        Problem is Assange’s interests and Moscow’s interests aligned very very closely in Wikileaks’ heyday, so he’s won zero friends. He’d be better off trying to flee to Russia, which of course is a very dark definition of “better” and almost certainly impossible.

          I wouldn’t say they aligned, more like if you start unburying bodies, what you’ll find the most of are bodies buried by the West. Snowden is no communist and probably hates Russia right now, but you end up not having much alternatives.
