Epic is fine and steam monopoly is bad, the cut devs get is better on epic so if you want to support devs buy there, devs have said they had a lot of support from epic the publisher and were happy with it, and if you hate the launcher then use heroic which is what you use anyway on steam deck for both epic and gog. There’s a reason Steam outclasses every other platform and it’s far from being a greedy monopoly. They uh, get close for this one, make a better product. Uplay, Origin, EGL, they all fucking suck in comparison of features and usability. Valve literally just gives a shit about the consumer first.
Where did I praise exclusivity? If you’re going to argue in bad faith then fuck off right away. And yes, you wanting “your library to be unified under one megacorporation” is indeed leading to a monopoly.
I guess you’re too young to remember Steam was shit in the initial years as well and people fucking hated it. You’re also blaming publishers for making an offer that developers voluntarily accepted, nobody forced them to do it, and most often it’s just temporary exclusivity anyway.

Also steam launched 20 years ago. It became ‘big’ in 2008. Every other platform has had more than 5 years to actually get going. Shocker they haven’t done it less time, since the blueprint was literally invented by Steam who had to experiment and create the fucking medium in the early days of the internet.
