Looks dope. Have been thinking of trying hoi4 with a friend of mine for a long time but the cost of multiple expansions is a bit much, even though there is a steam sale going. Maybe one of these days.
you can usually buy cheaper keys from places like eneba.
that said, I got sucked into stellaris and it was expensive
Yeah I know, it just feels off to buy them for like 3e lol.
I believe it is all part of the eco system. not completely sure how it works, but these companies but mass numbers of keys cheap with the idea that they have to sell them.
it’s.definitely not illegal.
They offer a subscription for $5/month that includes access to all the dlc.
Yeah that might be worth it. Check out for like two months and then decide.

Can anyone recommend a good way of getting into HOI IV? I enjoy so many paradox games which have more role playing elements like CK and Stellaris, but I’ve always had trouble wrapping my head around their more military-oriented titles like EU IV and HOI IV
You could try some alt-history paths (though they’re usually locked behind DLC). You can do some wacky things like restoring monarchies or the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, or in the new expansion restore Norse paganism in Iceland. There may be some RP opportunities there for you to get into.
Ultimately, though, HOI is a wargame that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. If spending most of your time planning, preparing, and engaging in world war doesn’t sound like something you want to do, then it may not be for you. You won’t find any deep economy, diplomacy, or political systems that make it all that fun to stay out of the war.
