Title. I’d like to filter some posts from Lemmy. Can this be done, either natively, either by some extensions (for chromium, in my case), either using a different frontend…?
Thank you in advance.
Lemmy doesn’t support this natively, but many clients do. Off the top of my head:
- Tesseract (desktop)
- Voyager (web frontend designed for mobile. I believe you need to install the app rather than using the website to use keyword filters)
- Mlem (iOS)
- Arctic (iOS)
- Thunder (Android & iOS)
- Sync (Android; I’ve heard Sync is unmaintained though)
Assuming you’re on desktop, Tesseract is probably your best bet. It might also be possible to get Voyager working. Some instances (like sh.itjust.works) run their own Tesseract instances (https://tesh.itjust.works/), but lemm.ee doesn’t. You’d have to use some other Tesseract instance, specifically one that allows connecting to any Lemmy instance (https://tesh.itjust.works/ is for sh.itjust.works accounts only). E.g. https://tesseract.dubvee.org/
Thanks, for desktop Tesseract looks a nice workaround (and much nicer looking than Lemmy itself, lol).
I’ve used Boost and Summit Lemmy clients and they both allow this. Dig around in the settings for it. Super nice to have!
Coo, I’ll try it on Android. Right now I’m using Lemmy’s own app. Thanks!
Which one is that again?
Lemmy’s one is called “Jerboa”. I couldn’t find Boost or Summit on f-droid, so I resorted on using “Thunder” (FOSS).
Oh ok. I have f-droid but I got Summit on the Google play store. Still new to the FOSS world personally. But it’s fun so far!
No problem, man. I’m just accostumed to check first on f-droid for my software. I don’t have anything against proprietary soft, if it is useful for my purposes.
